Female Victim Knifed in Birmingham City Bus Shelter Attack Dies
A woman who was stabbed to her neck area in an unprovoked attack near a bus shelter within Birmingham has died, authorities verified.
The deceased woman, aged 34 years, was targeted on Smallbrook Queensway street, just outside Bullring shopping complex, just prior to 21:00 GMT on Friday, according to police statements.
Djeison Rafael, twenty-one, was presented at Birmingham Magistrates Court Monday morning, facing charges for the violent incident.
He was previously accused of attempted murder however after the woman's death the charge has been updated to include murder.
Police Response
The force said police personnel will remain around the city centre through Monday to offer reassurance, while detectives assisted the victim's relatives.
Investigators are requesting any eyewitnesses who might have observed the accused, identified as British citizen of Black ethnicity, reportedly dressed in an all-grey tracksuit, dark headwear, athletic shoes and rucksack.

The stabbing happened near the Bullring shopping centre, opposite the main entrance of New Street railway station.
Police said they were treating it as "unprovoked attack" and Det Insp James Nix said efforts continue to determine why it happened.
Witness Accounts
Shalini Doal, employed in the vicinity, recounted the emergency response after completing her shift around 10 PM on Friday.
She described the scene as extremely disorderly, and said some of her colleagues heard loud disturbances at about 21:00.
"A lot of co-workers take public transport, take the tram... our safety is at risk fundamentally, here in the city centre."
Another individual, twenty-five, resident of Stoke, mentioned visiting to Birmingham quite frequently to see his girlfriend who lives in the city, expressing concern about what had happened.
"It causes concern for my girlfriend," he stated.
"She doesn't drive and works at all of the big music venues... considering something completely unprovoked occurred, understandably, it's horrible."
