Unveiling an Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have found numerous engaging creations from small studios. However, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a protagonist that is actually a dung trying to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is simple: you only need a single jump button. Across 150 challenges, encounter boss fights and access a shop to purchase customizations for your poop character.
Plan your movements with caution, since one mistake requires starting over. Jump on bubbles to hurl the poop to new heights, traverse fragile ledges, and interact with triggers to reveal hidden paths. Collect coins to purchase more difficult stages where gameplay gets crazy.
Graphically, the experience shows off neon level designs and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics featuring shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of fans of old favorites like Earthbound.
Although hard to name previous releases where you control a piece of feces, video games frequently incorporated fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist excrement. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as fertilizer. Naturally, this theme shows up a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Putting aside its silly concept, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, including winning at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is ready at present on Steam, with the final release scheduled to launch on computers on November 19.
